Blue Ridge Parkway

Another great thing about Asheville, is the Blue Ridge Parkway goes through the city. Jason and I have driven parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway west of Asheville. But we have never traveled it east of Asheville. We also have never driven it in the fall, when the color is breathtaking! So, of course, that was next on our list of things to do. We figured we'd stay on the parkway for as long as we wanted before getting on the interstate to Virginia.

We ended up staying on the parkway for about 2.5 hours, including several stops. It was so pretty!!!

We probably would have stayed on it longer, if the higher elevations wouldn't have been so foggy. We were at a crawl as we got higher and it was just too time consuming...and a bit eerie too.

We decided to exit and travel highways and interstates to Roanoke, VA for the night. We didn't do anything in Roanoke. We had pizza delivered and did laundry in the hotel.

The following day was to travel to Washington DC!
